Communities Frequently Asked Questions

The goals of the Communities are 1) to provide emotional and informational social support, 2) share experiences relating to the use of the Pain Self-Management Program (PSMP), and 3) encourage a community connection with other individuals with current or past depression. Participants will be able to network with others by posting messages on a variety of forums specific to different topics. Participants can start a thread with a topic of conversation or respond to threads that already exist. This gives participants the opportunity to make friends, discuss aspects of the PSMP, share their stories, and feel connected to others. Subscriptions (using real simple syndication, or RSS) will be available for participants in each forum so that they can receive updates in their reader of choice. In addition, we will create communities to reflect each of the Learning Modules (e.g., Thinking Better, Feeling Better, etc.). The goal is to engage discussion among users who are working on these modules. The goal of the communities and associated forums is to generate positive support for goal-based program activities.
